The manual, aimed at staff such as teachers, social workers and accident and emergency workers, who are not child mental health professionals, is being funded by the Camelot Foundation and is designed for dissemination via trainers.
Lee Miller, consultancy and training manager at YoungMinds, said it would outline how and why children self-harm, explain what action to take, and address the stigma surrounding children who self-harm.
