Health News: Safeguarding - Expert appointed for Isle of Wight

A child protection expert has been appointed to co-ordinate work between the NHS, the council and voluntary agencies on the Isle of Wight.

Jane Dowdell, jointly funded by Isle of Wight Council and the localprimary care trust, will start as senior interagency consultant onsafeguarding children next week.

Steve Beynon, the council's director of children's services, said thepost would help create a more streamlined approach between the threeagencies.

Dowdell is currently associate director of emergency services, child andfamily care group, at Isle of Wight Primary Care Trust.
