Health News: Respiratory disease - Guidance released on care at home

Barnardo's has published best-practice guidance on how to improve services for children with respiratory diseases in a bid to get them out of hospital quicker.

The study, From Hospital to Home, commissioned by the Department of Health, covers the package of care and support needed to arrange a safe return home for children who will still be dependent on machines to help them breathe.

Jan Morrison, principal policy officer for Barnardo's, said: "We hope this guidance will lead to children leaving hospital more quickly and enjoying a higher quality of life in the community."
