The criticism follows a consultation document from the Medicines and Healthcare Related Products Regulatory Agency. Responding to proposals to make additional products available to nurse prescribers, Royal College of Nursing prescribing adviser Molly Courtenay said the UK's prescribing guide - known as the formulary - did not meet the needs of paediatric nurses.
"It's getting ridiculous because it seems to be causing more and more problems," she added.
