The Community Practitioners' and Health Visitors' Association said manyschools were failing to combat children's concerns about weighing andmeasuring by "disguising" it as part of lessons.
Ros Godson, professional officer at the association, said: "There areways of incorporating it into a lesson like measuring hands and feet butit involves more organisation than really happens on the ground.
"In reality people are being lined up to measure their height and weightand children do not like it."
Children are handing in notes saying that they do not want to take partbut are later feeling "coerced" into joining in, members were reporting.She said that annual measuring of all children in school Years One andSix was excessive.
