The North East Strategic Health Authority and the region's 12 primarycare trusts (PCTs) have created a new role to lead on children'sservices at regional level, Children Now has learned.
Chris Willis, chief executive for both Hartlepool and North Tees primarycare trusts, said the role will encourage a common approach to issuesthat affect the region, such as child obesity and differing educationalattainment.
She said: "I really want to make sure the children's agenda is high onPCT's agenda across the whole of the North East."
Children's leads in each of the local health trusts will also specialisein different aspects of children's health services to help developexpertise that can be shared across the North East of England.
