Campaigners, who regarded the Draft Mental Health Bill as overlypunitive, have welcomed the Government's decision to introduce a new andshorter Bill that will update existing laws.
However, Kathryn Pugh, project lead at YoungMinds, said it was too earlyto say if the new Bill would be an improvement.
She said the charity would continue to campaign for new legislation toensure young people were not treated in adult wards and had access toadvocates as they do if they are admitted under the Children Act 1989.
