Children's hospital services in Peterborough are to get a major revamp, as work begins on a 335m private finance initiative.
The contracts to build a new acute hospital in the city were signed atthe end of last month. The hospital will include an integrated carecentre and a mental health unit.
Angela Broekhuizen, clinical lead and assistant project director for theGreater Peterborough Health Investment Plan, said: "The new environmentfor children's services will be a vast improvement on the olderbuildings we currently have."
The 612-bed hospital should open in 2010 and will house a children'sunit, with accommodation for parents.
