The alliance is disappointed the Department for Education and Skills's document does not have a stronger emphasis on ways care providers can engage younger children in a healthy lifestyle.
An alliance spokesman said: "The blueprint does contain reference to early years, but we would like to have seen a stronger steer from government to support what we and other members of the sector are doing to improve guidance for children under five."
