The news follows government figures highlighting that nearly a quarterof 11- to 15-year-olds drink regularly.
The Drinkaware Trust was part of the Portman Group, which was set up bythe alcohol industry to encourage sensible drinking. The reformed trust,run by 13 independent trustees, brings the industry together for thefirst time with charities, lobbying groups, medical professionals andexperts in the field.
Srabani Sen, chief executive of Alcohol Concern, said the trust wouldnot simply seek to raise awareness of misuse but actively attempt tochange behaviour.
