Health: Healthy girls worry about weight loss

Most teenage girls want to lose weight despite not being overweight, a survey published last week reveals.

The annual survey by Schools Health Education Unit says that 56 per centof 14 to 15 year old girls want to lose weight, despite just 15 per centactually being overweight. The survey questioned 17,743 10 to 15 yearolds about their health.

David Regis, research manager at the unit, said: "We don't want to becomplacent about the problem of obesity but far more young people areunhappy with their weight than there is any medical need to be."
