The charity published its Delivering Every Child Matters in Secure Settings guide this week. The guidance is part of NCB's Healthier Inside project, a five-year programme that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in custody by supporting good practice.
The document sets out the 27 health and wellbeing entitlements of children and young people in custody and suggests how work in this area can be made more effective.
It also brings together national policies and guidance to create a framework that will help staff review services and make sure young offenders have access to high-quality support on health issues.
NCB said it hopes that, by reviewing services against these entitlements, staff can be confident they are delivering on the full agenda for improving the health and wellbeing of young prisoners.
