Funding Watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Bid to kick racism with football

1 min read
Grants are being made available to youth clubs, schools and community groups to organise football tournaments and other activities in a bid to combat racism.

Organisations have until midday next Monday (6 September) to apply for 30 grants of up to 1,000 from Kick It Out, the national campaign against racism in football, as part of its Anti-Racism Week of Action. Those wishing to run smaller activities can request T-shirts, banners, display material and leaflets.

Development officer Fatima Choudhury said football was a great medium for getting anti-racism messages across to children and young people.

"The crux of the funding is to support events within different communities that promote inclusion and partnership," said Choudhury. "That doesn't necessarily mean that all projects have to do football tournaments - it is more about getting groups together to highlight issues of racism and inclusion."
