What is it? The Dulverton Trust is an independent body that provides grants to UK-registered charities, to fund youth and education activities for disadvantaged young people. It also funds other areas including welfare and conservation. The trust has awarded almost £70m to thousands of charities since it was established in 1949.
How much is on offer? There are two types of grant on offer: the major grant, for national charities with an annual income below £50m; and the minor grant, available to smaller charities working at local level with an income below £400,000. The maximum grant available is £3,500.
What will it fund? Activities that improve education and employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people, such as those at risk of offending or exclusion. The trust particularly likes to fund challenging outdoor activities and mostly supports organisations working in areas where a grant would significantly improve outcomes for local communities. It also tends to focus funds on deprived or isolated areas of England, Wales and Scotland.
