What is it? The Home Access Programme is a government-funded scheme that provides grants enabling low-income families in England with one or more children in full-time education to pay for home computers and internet access to support learning. From July, it is focusing on providing assistive technology packages to children with severe disabilities or special educational needs (SEN).
How much is on offer? Up to £528 per family, awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
What will it fund? Personalised assistive technology packages, including specially adapted computer equipment such as touchscreens and screen-reader software. Since its launch in January, the programme has provided more than 200,000 families with computers and internet access.
