This year he had his youth service budget slashed by 50 per cent. So is he concerned that the cut imposed by councillors might land him in trouble with his paymasters at the Department for Education and Skills (DfES)? And is the authority risking sanctions for failing to increase spending as set out in the Government's Resourcing Excellent Youth Services document and demanded by ministers?
Higher or lower?
The short answer is: "No." Because even with the cuts, the borough still spends more on its youth service than the Government's funding formula allocates to it for the whole of its youth and community work spending.
