FUNDING: Lloyds TSB helps out Mitcham project

1 min read

The Mitcham project will use the cash over two years for a new instructor and mechanic. It also recently received 10,500 from the Bridge House Trust to fund 20 new motorbikes.

The project teaches motor mechanics and off-road motorcycling skills to 300 12- to 18-year-olds a year. It also offers NVQ accreditation courses.

Angus Deane, treasurer of the project, said: "We tend to attract people outside mainstream schooling, mainly from ethnic minorities, who come here during term time five days a week. We help them develop skills."

Separately, Lloyds' charitable foundation has funded Villages in Action, in Devon, with 10,000 to provide multimedia training to 14- to 25-year-olds.
