Charity calls on Lloyds group to reopen Scottish fund

1 min read Youth Work
YouthLink Scotland has launched a campaign urging Lloyds TSB to reverse a decision to call time on around 6m of voluntary sector funding in the region.

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland has announced that it is closing its doors on new applications for the foreseeable future due to expected losses by the Lloyds Banking Group.

YouthLink said the cut in funding will devastate youth work as around 61 per cent of the fund is invested in work with young people.

YouthLink is calling on youth charities to write to their local MPs, MSPs, the Prime Minister and the chairman of the Lloyds Banking Group to show their support for the fund and explain how its loss will affect them.

Mary Craig, chief executive of the foundation, said: "As we remain uncertain as to when we will next receive sufficient money under the terms of our covenant to enable us to continue our grant making activities, we felt we couldn’t leave it any longer to alert charities to what is happening as this is as much about their future as it is ours."
