The money will help pay for a three-month music season called State of Play. A national music week will be held from 16 to 20 October, along with the launch of the second report from the Music Manifesto, which will outline the way forward for music education based on the outcomes of the three original trial projects.
Naomi Elliot-Newman, co-ordinator of the northwest trial project at the Halle Orchestra in Manchester, said: "We are very encouraged by the State of Play announcements. Over the next 18 months we will be consulting with young people on what they want with regards to music and singing."
