Funding: Childrens Fund awarded 396m

Ed Balls pledged to plough 396m into the fund over the next three years. The fund was launched in 2000 and aimed to identify and support children and young people at risk of social exclusion. Money was previously set aside for youth crime prevention, although the Department for Children, Schools and Families was unable to say if that would continue.
