Foundation stage books published

Early Years
A series of books to support childcare workers and parents with the new play-based curriculum, to be introduced later this year, has been published by the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

The series of six books, collectively called First and Foremost, contains several ideas for applying the key themes and principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which comes into force in September.

Titles range from Listening Together, focused on developing communication and language skills, to Mark Making and Representations, which examines the way children express their feelings, ideas and experiences through the use of crayons and paint.

Playing and Learning Outdoors, Music and Dance, Numbers, Shapes and Problem Solving and Being Me form the rest of the titles in the series. Each book also contains a chapter on theory and research.
