More than 200 refugees and asylum seekers visited the gardens altogether as part of International Refugee Week, which took place from 20 to 26 June.
Organised by Your Homes Newcastle Asylum Unit, the children enjoyed a range of activities including a mini athletics course, football and rounders. A spokeswoman for Your Homes Newcastle said the event had given families a chance to share their experiences and the children a chance to get out of the city and enjoy the castle and its grounds.
