David Tchilingirian, the London borough's food in schools nutritionist, told CYP Now he wanted to explore the idea of family information services providing advice about where to buy healthy food cheaply.
"Many families who don't eat healthily have problems buying or storing cheap, healthy foods," he said. "One idea I want to explore in the longer term is providing them with information about where to get healthy food through the family information service - for example, where they can get 10 oranges for a pound instead of four. Family information services could be a key way of getting the healthy eating message beyond the school gates."
