The commission believes that allowing cohabiting couples to claim ashare of each other's wealth if they split up could help the childrensince the law does not currently address the financial hardship sufferedby the primary carer.
The Child Poverty Action Group said it would like to see cohabitingcouples have the same bereavement rights as married couples.
Chief executive Kate Green said: "One area where changing the rules forcohabiting couples could have a positive effect is in extendingentitlement to bereavement benefits such as widowed parent'sallowance."
