Family Law: Disclosure plans attacked by lawyer

A senior family lawyer says Government proposals to ease restrictions on the disclosure of information from family proceedings cases could have worrying implications for children.

Liz Goldthorpe, chair of the Association of Lawyers for Children, said the consultation, launched by the Department for Constitutional Affairs just before Christmas, could have been produced by "people who live in London and forget what it's like to live in a smaller community".

The consultation sets out circumstances where information could be disclosed without a court order giving authorisation.
