The Family Procedure Rule Committee, whose first meeting takes place this week, will be responsible for making rules of court for all family proceedings, including adoption, in the High Court, county courts and magistrates courts.
Meanwhile, a senior family court judge has warned that family lawyers have been "slow to recognise and even slower to accept" decisions made in court cases, such as immigration decisions where children's interests are not the ultimate benchmark.
In his address to the Association of Lawyers for Children national conference, Mr Justice Munby said it could seem "almost shocking" for family lawyers to have to admit that there are occasions where the decision-maker is an administrator or a politician.
