During the project, which begins in May, young people from schools in Camden will work for five days with the museum curators to pick out objects of faith.
Becky Hatch, project co-ordinator for Diversity and Dialogue, said: "They will have a chance to write about and draw the object to make up a booklet, and will be trained as unofficial tour guides to carry out a 'faith trail' in the museum in October."
Diversity and Dialogue was set up by faith and non-faith organisations including Cafod, Christian Aid, Citizenship Foundation, Jewish Council for Racial Equality, Muslim Aid and Save the Children. The Department for International Development has given 120,000 to the project over two years.
