Faith-based work: Offender scheme set for expansion

The project, established two years ago, currently runs in the Northeast and Northwest, including a partnership with Christian charity The Message Trust in Manchester. From September the programme will start a 12-month pilot working with young people in young offender institutions and secure units in Yorkshire, Humberside and London, including Feltham Young Offender Institution.

Reflex provides arts and sports activities and a mentoring programme.

Youth for Christ received 70,000 three-year funding to develop Reflex from the Jerusalem Trust in 2004. Reflex also receives Department for Education and Skills funding, which is match-funded by prisons taking on the project.
