Faith-based work: Church workers to train in leadership

The course, Vision, begins in February 2005 and will lead to two qualifications - a Diploma in Management, accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, and a Diploma in Transformational Leadership, awar- ded by the Bordesley Institute.

The Bordesley Institute helped develop the course with Youth for Christ, the Frontier Youth Trust, the Message and Church leaders.

Dave Wiles, chief executive at the Frontier Youth Trust, said: "For too long Church youth workers have been unsupported by their management. Recent research showed that they felt burnt out and abused and told managers what they wanted to hear about the numbers of young people coming in instead of being straight with them."
