Exam stress: Testing times

As young people prepare for their GCSEs and A-levels, Suzy Bashford finds out how youth workers can help them to cope with the stress.

"We're doing the same course as our friend," says one. "She's really good and we're not. We work really hard at weekends but she's still the one that gets all the compliments in class. We want to do the same course as her, but we know she'll always beat us."

This, says Snee, is typical of the kind of feelings young people experience during exam times. Snee listens to them and tries to get the girls to focus on their own goals, rather than be distracted by the goals of others.

They leave saying they feel much better after talking about their worries.
