Members voted recycling and the environment as their top-priority campaign, followed by the introduction of a national concessionary card for transport and the abolition of university tuition fees.
Issues that failed to make it onto the members' national agenda were votes at 16, a drive for a fair and accurate representation of young people in the media, and an age standardisation campaign, which would have asked the government to define when a young person becomes an adult.
The event marked the first time the UKYP had met in Parliament itself. It was only the second time in history that the House of Lords had been used for a non-parliamentary function.
