As part of a historic move to listen to the voices of children and young people, this was only the second time the House of Lords Chamber has been used for a non-parliamentary function and the first time for the UK Youth Parliament to debate in the Houses of Parliament.
Members used the event to debate and vote on their national campaigns for 2008 and 2009, focusing on such concerns as public transport concessions, tuition fees, media representation, voting age, and the specific age at which a young person is defined as an adult.
More than 500 young people are currently elected as Members of the UK Youth Parliament. Find out more at www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk.
