The strike will involve members of the Public and Commercial Services Union in Job-centres and other offices in England, Scotland and Wales.
It was announced last week after talks broke down between the civil service union and the Department for Work and Pensions, which plans to cut 30,000 posts including frontline personal advisers in Jobcentres. The union blames cuts for deteriorating services such as benefit payments and employment advice.
Reductions in the Jobcentre Plus budget last year led to centres cutting contracts with training providers, which some said had a devastating impact on their ability to meet the needs of unemployed young people.
