Electronic format for nursery rhymes

1 min read Early Years
Incey Wincey Spider has gone 21st century and swapped the waterspout for the iPod.

Lancashire County Council has helped put together a new piece of technology which stores old-fashioned nursery rhymes, such as Incey Wincey Spider, on an electronic "page".

Children can choose the nursery rhyme they want to hear by touching the page with an interactive pen. The pen, which looks like a crayon, picks up the rhyme's code and plays the song through a hidden MP3 player.

Marion Bamford, project co-ordinator, said: "People often worry that lovely old rhymes are being lost to children. This is a new take on traditional verses, which relates to modern life without losing the old-fashioned appeal of nursery rhymes."
