Summer universities are inviting young people to pick up new skills during the school holidays. Lauren Higgs drops in on one to find out how.

It's a Tuesday morning and the playground outside the school is deserted. The surrounding roads are eerily quiet. It can only mean one thing: the school holidays are in full swing.

But while many schools lie dormant for six weeks over the summer, South Camden Community School is being put to good use. It is just one of the sites where young Londoners are gathering to learn new skills, meet friends and have fun.

From bubble making and Chinese paper cutting to mountain biking and parkour, Camden Summer University is offering around 900 13- to 19-year-olds the opportunity to take part in almost 100 free courses.
