"I was in my third year as an apprentice bricklayer with Barratt and studying at Sunderland College when I was made redundant last September. I really want another opportunity to finish my course.
I got the job through Connexions. I knew I wanted an outdoor job and liked the fact that I could do something like this and make money. I enjoyed everything about the course and made some good friends too. I was absolutely gutted when I found out I'd been made redundant. I have a 17-month old daughter to support, but I believe I can get back into bricklaying and complete my apprenticeship.
