Education: Pupils to celebrate national sport week

Education
Schools are being urged to take part in the government's first National School Sport Week.

It is hoped around three million children will take part in what the government is calling a "week-long celebration of PE and school sport" from 30 June.

The week will be managed by the charity Youth Sport Trust and part-financed by Norwich Union. Schools are being offered a resource pack with ideas, as well as guidance from trust officials. Activities taking place include sport festivals and competitions between schools.

"The new National School Sport Week is a great opportunity to reinvigorate inter- and intra-school competition for thousands more youngsters," said Youth Sport Trust chief executive Steve Grainger.
