Education News: Sport - Ofsted shows gains from partnerships

School sports partnerships have increased participation, improved ability and bettered provision, says an Ofsted report.

All schools are now involved in partnerships, where groups of schoolsand sports clubs work together to develop sports opportunities for youngpeople, said the report.

Researchers also revealed that almost all pupils in primary schools theyvisited are achieving at or above the English average in most aspects ofPE.

Steve Grainger, chief executive of the Youth Sport Trust, said: "Theresults are a strong endorsement of the quality and success of the workbeing done by school sport partnerships."

However, the report revealed that support for the partnerships wasstronger in primary schools than secondary schools.
