The baccalaureate, piloted by the Welsh Assembly Government two yearsago, aims to give young people a broader education. Students would gaincredits for proving their ability in key skills such as maths andlanguages, as well as for activities like community work.
There are two levels to the baccalaureate: intermediate, which isequivalent to GCSEs, NVQ Level 2, a BTEC first or intermediate GNVQ; andadvanced, which is equivalent to A-levels.
