Education News: Truancy - Initiative to boost learning in capital

Young people in London who are missing out on their education could benefit from improved services under a new initiative being set up by four of the capital's boroughs.

Bexley, Camden, Newham and Lambeth councils are teaming up to launch the project, which will look at how to identify, track and develop services for children lost to education.

They are being supported by the DfES's London Challenge initiative, which aims to transform secondary education in London. The councils are looking to appoint a full-time project adviser for one year. He or she will work with other London boroughs too.

The project aims to identify good practice and share it with all London boroughs.
