Education News: Special needs - SEN partnerships to get more money

Schools minister Lord Adonis is expected to give the green light to more money for Special Educational Needs Regional Partnerships.

Their current funding runs out in March next year but senior officials at the Department for Education and Skills have suggested that the minister will keep the projects going after that.

Speaking at the inaugural partnerships national conference, Althea Efunshile, director of the safeguarding children group, said: "Andrew has shown significant interest in the partnerships."

Ian Coates, head of the special educational needs and disability division, added that the partnerships were "greatly appreciated in the department".
