Education News: Special needs - New positioning for partnerships

England's 11 special educational needs regional partnerships have changed their name and drawn up a new mission statement.

The move comes three months after the partnerships were ordered toexpand their remit to deal with children in care and safeguarding issues(Children Now, 23-29 November 2005).

They will now be known as the regional partnerships and their core remitwill be "to promote inclusion and positive outcomes for children withspecial educational needs and/or disabilities, and looked-afterchildren".
