Hurlford Primary, which has 335 pupils, says it hopes the scheme will improve the range and diversity of food on offer to its pupils. The scheme follows the success of the Hungry for Success initiative led by the Scottish Executive, which aims to improve children's health.
East Ayrshire Council said it would extend the scheme to other schools in the area if the pilot were successful.
