Education News: Learning mentors - Charity expands Yorkshire service

School-Home Support, which provides learning mentors for pupils, is to expand its services in Yorkshire and Humberside with the appointment of a regional manager.

The organisation has focused most of its efforts to date on London, but in 2003 it began its York/ Selby Project. It is currently operating in six schools and will shortly introduce learning mentors in another three.

New business co-ordinator Marianne Piggin said: "More and more frequently people are talking about the success of mentors."
