Education News: Green Paper

Call for schools to be more involved Schools must become more involved in discussing policy changes arising from the green paper Every Child Matters, says a pamphlet published by The Education Network.

Every School Matters argues that Every Child Matters was not widely distributed to schools, that the Children Bill lacks reference to schools, their staff or governors, and that the next steps document does not include much more detail.

The pamphlet lists 12 questions that it hopes schools will respond to, including whether there should be a lead governor for children's services.

It asks whether schools need a written policy on the broader children's agenda and whether they should be among the list of bodies in the Children Bill under a duty to co-operate with authorities over children's services.
