Children would like see extended schools offering trips into space and visits to see Father Christmas at the North Pole.

Educational psychologists in Sandwell asked 100 primary and secondarypupils what activities they would like to introduce to their breakfastand after-school clubs. The report shows wide variations in the type ofactivities children had in mind.

At one primary, nine out of 14 children said they would have the sameactivities that were already provided by their club. Others at the sameschool opted for PlayStations, chocolate, cooking and theme parkvisits.

At another school, just a quarter of pupils said they would keep thestatus quo. The new activities suggested were "football, dance, drama, art, drawing and colouring, visiting Father Christmas at the North Poleand going into space".

The report's authors concluded that clubs need to be clear about thetype of activities they operate.
