John Adams, chair of the National Governors' Association, flagged up theconcern in a speech at Children Now's extended schools conference lastweek.
He said: "There are issues about insurance. If we are extending theactivities of the school is it possible to cover the liabilities bysimply extending the existing insurance arrangements?"
Speaking to Children Now afterwards, he cited one school that hadalready encountered problems with its existing insurance provider. "Theyhad the agenda moving forward and it came to a grinding halt becausethey did not know whether they had got insurance cover," he said.
