Towards Zero Exclusions is not due to be published until September butChildren Now has seen a draft copy. The draft says fixed-term exclusionsare generally viewed as either having little impact or negative effectson behaviour.
The report said: "A large number of staff (thought) fixed-term exclusionis not feared by most pupils who experience it and is therefore bothlargely ineffective as a sanction and has little value as a threat. Thiswas supported by a cross-section of pupils across all schools."
