The City Academy Bristol is believed to be the first school to make suchan appointment.
Ray Priest, head of the academy, said he had created the post to ensurethat the school was meeting the five outcomes in the Every Child Mattersgreen paper.
He said: "We've just written our overarching policy for Every ChildMatters, and the framework of all the policies that underpin that arebeing rewritten in the context of the five outcomes. We actually havewhat we call eight conditions that link in to the five outcomes and wehave recently appointed a director of Every Child Matters to lead thatwork.
"She is a senior member of staff and is very much involving agenciesoutside of school. She is leading a multi-agency approach, so we alreadyhave joint-working groups with children's services in the broadestcontext, but also the youth work sector and the voluntary sector."
