Education secretary Alan Johnson said he is keen to build on theGovernment's social and emotional aspects of learning programme.
The programme helps children develop skills such as understandinganother's point of view, working in a group, sticking at things whenthey get difficult, resolving conflict and managing worries.
It focuses on five social and emotional aspects of learning:self-awareness; managing feelings; motivation; empathy; and socialskills.
Addressing Parliament's Education and Skills Select Committee last week,Johnson commended schools in Nottingham for adopting the programme "withknobs on". He added: "We had an interesting session at our ministerialmeeting last Friday. There is an issue here."
